Not your typical 5-star hotel fine dining restaurant, cosmopolitan cuisine is on the 5 Rooms menu. Expect a fusion of tastes, flavours and styles – served in generous portions and complemented by a wide range of carefully selected wines, presented in Riedel crystal ware for extra enjoyment.

5 Rooms restaurant located at the historic Alphen Estate in Constantia provides an intimate, warm and luxurious atmosphere. Placed within the centuries old Manor House with its dark, rich colours, heavy fabrics and dramatic décor – including a private collection of antique furniture and classical works combined with contemporary, modern pieces -it promises an outstanding dining experience.The menu lends itself to the immediate environment and surrounding area, thereby incorporating the Constantia Valley’s heritage and fascinating stories into the food itself.

5 Rooms restaurant offers simple yet sophisticated dishes. All meat and seafood tastes are catered for, as well as some vegetarian fare. Top Cape Town Chef Fernando Roman gained a wealth of experience in Europe, North America and South Africa and his culinary creations are a true reflection of his passion and dedication. His idea was to create a menu that ties in with The Alphen’s and more specifically 5 Rooms’ theme of marrying old with new, classic with novel. His signature dishes include the Fish Tank, a medley of seafood served in a glass fish bowl, the Springbok Loin with its ‘smoke surprise’ and the Lamb Trilogy consisting of lamb loin, lamb tortellini and a lamb cutlet.

The perfect setting for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, promotions or simply a great time out, 5 Rooms is the place to go.

The restaurant has an extensive wine, cocktail, whisky, cognac and brandy list andguests can stroll down to the Rose Bar that overlooks the expansive gardens and pool.

Offering Cape Hospitality since the late 1700’s and declared a national monument in 1973, The Manor House has played host to Mark Twain, Cecil John Rhodes, George Bernard Shaw, Captain Cook and Jan Smuts.Dining at 5 Rooms brings back memories of a bygone era when this establishment welcomed men and women of influence, wealth and celebrity. The 5 Rooms team aspires to continue The Alphen’s legacy of fine cuisine, wine and hospitality.
